SECONDARY DATA ANALYSIS

The CMHPSR consists of a group of multidisciplinary faculty and staff interested in the public behavioral health care system. We are a division within the Center that focuses on secondary data analysis.

We are one of the first university based groups to employ administrative data to effectively plan, coordinate and evaluate care for patients with mental health disorders and effectively integrate data across agencies.

TYPES OF DATA USED

The nature of service system research for the seriously mentally ill population requires the use of a number of large claims level databases. Our database provides an opportunity to examine the system-wide dynamics of service utilization and cost among the mentally ill and those with substance abuse problems in a major urban setting.
  • Administrative data from state or local Behavioral Health Agencies
  • Medicaid claims and enrollment data
